I grew up in the suburbs of DC and didn’t fully appreciate that the nation’s capital was in my backyard until I moved away. Over the years when I visit family and home I try to take advantage of what the city has to offer that you can’t find anywhere else.
All of the Smithsonian Museums, the memorials and the National Zoo are free for visitors. The public transportation, Metro, goes to most parts of the cities and the outlying areas. You could definitely function without a car. The energy of the city is so different from anywhere else. People are passionate…about Politics, their jobs and really everything. It’s probably one of, if not the only, city that was not negatively affected by the down economy.
Ok, enough of my lovefest on DC…here are some pictures of my favorite places. Hope you have a chance to visit and see where our President, Congress and other policy makers spend most of their time.
