Anniversary lunch at Canoe

I hope you all had a great weekend!  It always seems to go by way too fast, doesn’t it?!?!

One year ago today I married my best friend and the love of my life in Old Town Alexandria (VA) in front of 140 of our closest friends and family.  The whole night flew by but it was perfect and I wish I could relive it again and again. This weekend we are celebrating our anniversary visiting wineries and vineyards in North Georgia and spending a couple of nights at a cabin in Dahlonega.  I cannot wait to share with you all about the trip!

RG and I were already committed to a kickball game this evening so to celebrate today he picked me up for a lunch date.  It was the perfect way to start this week!  He showed up with gorgeous flowers that are smelling up my office beautifully!  We then headed to Canoe, which is a tucked away restaurant, north of Atlanta, on the Chattahoochee River.  The ambiance is elegant and low-key at the same time. They take your name when you arrive and from that point on you are addressed by the servers and others by name.  This is such a nice touch.  We sat in the atrium of the restaurant looking out on the water, it was very serene I didn’t want to go back to work.

We started out with some prosecco and bourbon to toast to one year, and an order of their spring rolls. From the first bite of the rolls I knew I was not going to be disappointed.  While I wanted to stay healthy and order a salad I just couldn’t do it.  Their pulled chicken tacos were calling my name. When they came out I was surprised, they are actually more like taquitos over a bed of beans and salsa. I know, it sounds weird, but they were amazing…and very filling, I could only eat two of the three.  RG ordered a salmon patty with roasted tomato and a fried egg.  It looked great, and he raved about it.  Unfortunately I am not a salmon fan so I didn’t get to try it.

Overall it was a great lunch and I wish I didn’t have to go back to the office.  I can’t wait to try this place out for dinner!
