Celebrating my brother’s wedding

Happy Friday!! It’s hard to believe that just two weeks ago I was in Washington D.C. celebrating my baby brother’s wedding.  It was such a special weekend bringing two families and many friends together from near and far – even from Italy! – to help Andrew, and his bride, Nicole ring in this new era of their relationship.

Andrew is my youngest brother, we’re about eight and a half years apart…I was in college during his awkward pre-teen years and was establishing a career in a different state when he was in college, but through it all we’ve managed to stay close and have a strong relationship. Nicole is Andrew’s first love and has been part of our family for nearly 12 years, they first started “dating” sophomore year in high school.  So bringing our two families together wasn’t a time of introductions and new relationships, but rather a meeting of old friends with a level of comfort you don’t see at many weddings.

The happy couple with their ring bearer and flower girls

The wedding itself was beautiful…candlelit ceremony and reception in an exposed brick building in the heart of Dupont Circle, they had the cutest ring bearer (Jackson!) and flower girls, some of the best dance music that kept the floor full, and a food truck of pies for desert!

Most pictures that I have from the weekend were taking on an iPhone and/or shared by others, so the quality is not always great but here’s a snapshot of some of the festivities…

Congratulations to the beautiful couple who are relaxing on the beaches of Turks & Caicos as I write this!
