And that’s a wrap summer

Right  now I am supposed to be on my way to the airport and heading to Siesta Key for a much-needed girls weekend.  A couple of my closest girlfriends and I take a long weekend each year and head somewhere to relax, sip fun cocktails and catch up.  Unfortunately, Hurricane Irma had other plans for us though, and instead we’ll all be staying home this weekend.

Girls weekend
The last time we were all together

This was going to be my last hurrah before declaring summer over…how is it already September, and where did the warm weather go?!  That said, fall does bring some of my favorite things with it…college football and crisp mornings drinking warm coffee on the porch.

Since it’s been a while since I’ve really posted here’s a wrap up of what I’ve been up to, I hope you enjoy!

Cooking – I am in such a rut right now. I love to cook, and getting in the kitchen is therapeutic for me. But lately I just haven’t been able to pull it together and find the time to really cook. If you have any recipes you’re loving right now please share!

I will say though, with football season officially here I am excited to break out my favorite small plates and app recipes for game time…including my go-to deviled eggs. I’ve been making these for years, and they’re always a hit at parties.

Reading – I just finished The Lying Game by Ruth Ware, and I loved it.  I think my next read will be something different, I’ve been reading a lot of thrillers lately and want a lighter story this time around.

Current Project – Nothing in the works right now.  Work, family and travel have consumed my time lately, but I’ll find something soon!

Looking forward toMusic Midtown, in two weeks some of the hottest artists are coming to town

Watching Ozark, the new Breaking Bad…SO.GOOD…bingeworthy

In my earsThe Daily Podcast…with everything going on in the world right now, from Charlottesville to Hurricane Harvey to North Korea, you get a real behind-the-scenes look at what it’s like to be a journalist covering these topics.  The best part is it’s only 20 minutes or less, perfect for a commute, and you can listen through Alexa and Google Home…so when I can’t listen on my way to work I listen when I’m getting ready, I love it!

Music-wise I’ve had on repeat a Spotify playlist of all Music Midtown artists to get excited for the festival

Planning – My mom’s birthday weekend…she has a big(ish) birthday coming up in December and the whole family is heading south to Delray Beach for a long weekend to celebrate.

Goals for fall – Really nothing new here, eat less, work-out more, and not be stressed!

Cheers,

Nicole
