Apple Picking in North Georgia

One of my favorite annual traditions growing up was our family trek out to an orchard to pick apples and drink cider.  I remember running through the orchards, filling up baskets of apples and sipping on warm cider to stay warm.  I couldn’t wait to start this tradition with Jackson.  So this past weekend Jackson and I drove up to North Georgia with a few friends for our first apple picking experience.   Read More

Staplehouse | America’s Best New Restaurant of 2016

Where has summer gone? I don’t know about you but I cannot believe we’re already in August! I’ve been meaning to write about Staplehouse for well over a week now, but time has just gotten away from me.  Alas, here we go…Ryan and I recently had a date night with some old friends who we don’t get to see often enough and decided to check out Staplehouse.

If you haven’t heard of it, especially if you live in Atlanta, you’re missing out!  It’s been on my radar for a while, we actually had lunch reservations here when they first opened but ended up going somewhere else instead. Fail! Shortly after we cancelled our reservations Bon Appétit named it No. 1 on their list of America’s Best New Restaurants and since it’s nearly impossible to get into. Read More

Masters, Augusta National

A big congrats to our new Masters champion, Sergio Garcia! This time of year and this tournament in general always makes me wish I was better at golf. I’ve tried my hand at the sport a few times – taking lessons in college, regular trips to the driving range and putting greens, and even playing in a charity tournament – but I’ve never dedicated the time it takes to master the game. I also don’t regularly follow the sport professionally, except for when it comes to the Masters.

Living just two hours from August National it’s hard not to follow this tournament. Most Atlantans know at least one people who has experienced the Masters, or has experienced it themselves. I am fortunate enough to be in the latter group, in 2015 Ryan and I made the trip down for a practice round and were blown away. It is even more beautiful in person and the benefit of the practice rounds are you can bring cameras in and players are relaxed and a lot more accessible. Read More

First Trimester Recap

Since my expected due date is around the corner (just one week away…whoa!) I obviously won’t be documenting my full nine month journey…which is really closer to 10 months – 40 weeks – who knew?! I did want to give a few recaps of what I have experienced along the way because reading other blogs has really helped me through this journey to know what to expect, hopefully this will bring some clarity to those who are making their way through their own pregnancy or will embark on this journey soon.

My 2013 year in review

Hello!  I know I have been m.i.a. for a while now…we have been settling back into life in Atlanta and celebrating the holidays with family.  I follow a number of blogs who have all posted their year in review and thought I would follow suit…  My goal was to find one picture to represent each month of the year, but I just couldn’t do it…there were too many to choose from!  Until I look a looked back through this blog it had not hit me just how much we did this past year.  So here goes nothing…

Chomp and Stomp

Hello my friends!  I am loving the weather right now…the cooler air always makes me crave a good home cooked meal and warm tea or apple cider.  Chili is one of my favorite dishes to make this time of year.  While I still haven’t had the chance to make my own batch I did make my way to Atlanta’s chili cookoff, also known as Chomp and Stomp, this past weekend.  And let me tell you…I ate enough chili to satisfy my craving for at least a couple of weeks.

Last Atlanta Bucket List Update

I hope you are all having a great week!  Before I start blogging about our travel adventures I wanted to update you on my Atlanta Bucket List…overall we did pretty good.  There are a handful (five to be exact) that I wasn’t able to get to.  We made a choice our last week in town to spend time with friends as much as we could instead of running around trying to see sites or revisit places.  Friendships mean so much more than seeing sites or eating at restaurants that will still be there when we get back.  And if they are not still around then it’s probably better we didn’t spend time or money there!
